Atelier Paludisme 2008, Institut Pasteur de Madagascar

L'Atelier Paludisme organisé par l'Institut Pasteur de Madagascar, en collaboration avec le Ministère de la Santé et du Planning Familial de Madagascar et les partenaires financiers, est une formation francophone spécialisée dans le paludisme pour le renforcement des compétences au bénéfice des chercheurs et des personnels de santé impliqués dans la lutte contre le paludisme. Elle intéresse plus particulièrement les personnes en charge de programmes, ou futurs porteurs de projets.

La 6ème session de l’Atelier sera organisée du 10 Mars au 18 Avril 2008. Seize apprenants seront sélectionnés sur leur profil (niveau de formation minimum équivalent à un DEA et/ou expérience de plusieurs années), leur situation professionnelle, les recommandations et leurs motivations. La priorité sera donnée aux candidats qui exercent des fonctions, ou qui exerceront des fonctions, les impliquant dans les programmes de recherche ou de santé publique de lutte contre le paludisme. La sélection des candidats vise également à diversifier les pays d'origine et les disciplines. Les candidatures devront être soutenues par un supérieur hiérarchique qui s'engagera à rendre le candidat disponible en cas de sélection.

Organisation de l’Atelier Paludisme :
L'Atelier Paludisme de l'Institut Pasteur de Madagascar vise à renforcer les qualités d'experts des acteurs de la lutte contre le paludisme, à renforcer leurs aptitudes pour la gestion de projets, et à s'auto-former en utilisant les moyens modernes d'information et de communication.
La formation est basée sur la mise en situation. Les apprenants sont engagés dans une recherche active d'informations pour réaliser leurs propres conférences. Ils sont encadrés par des facilitateurs, certains venant de l'étranger. Le contexte est tel que les acquis sont mis en valeur et que les débats donnent lieux à des échanges riches en informations.

La formation dure 6 semaines à l'Institut Pasteur de Madagascar. Tout est organisé sur place pour le bon déroulement de l'Atelier. Les apprenants venant de l'étranger sont logés. Tous les frais de titres de transport, de formation et de séjour sont pris en charge par nos soins. Seuls les frais d'assurances doivent être pris en charge par les bénéficiaires ou leurs institutions.

La formation dure 6 semaines a l'Institut Pasteur de Madagascar. Les apprenants venant de l'étranger sont loges. Tous les frais de titres de transport, de formation et de sejour sont pris en charge par nos soins.

La date limite de depot des dossiers de candidature est fixee au 31 Octobre 2007.

La 11ème édition du Cours International d’Epidémiologie et d’Informatique Appliquées organisée en collaboration avec l’Institut Pasteur de Dakar, aura lieu du 31 mars au 26 avril 2008, à l’Institut Régional de Santé Publique (IRSP) au Bénin. Cette formation pratique vise à l’optimisation des activités de surveillance intégrée des maladies, d’investigation d’épidémies et d’enquête de santé publique en Afrique Subsaharienne, dans le contexte du Règlement Sanitaire International (RSI 2005).

First advanced Summer School in Africa - Lecture Course on the Molecular and Cellular Basis of Infection, Hermanus, South Africa
The Advanced Lecture Course on the Molecular and Cellular Basis of Infection will take place under the auspices of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB), Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS), International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), United Nation Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as the first of the biennial courses in the IUBMB Advanced Summer School in Africa

Participants: The course is open to all nationalities. A scientific committee will select 50 participants on a competitive basis. Applicants must be senior PhD students, postdoctoral fellows or junior academics (in possession of a PhD) under the age of 35. Appropriate background knowledge as well as english speaking are essential.

Funding: Admission to the course will include automatic qualification for a round trip economy class airfare, as well as the cost of accommodation and meals for the duration of the course.

The Program: An international faculty of scientists will conduct the one week advanced theoretical lecture course for young scientists interested in the Molecular and Cellular Basis of Infection. The course will include lectures, poster sessions, students presentations and discussions.

CURSO INTERNACIONAL INMUNIDAD INNATA CONTRA PATÓGENOS

Descripción del curso

 El objetivo general de este curso es proporcionar, durante dos semanas, el conocimiento más actualizado sobre la respuesta inmune innata hacia los patógenos.
Se trata de un curso de nivel avanzado y dirigido fundamentalmente a alumnos de doctorado cuyos trabajos de tesis estén directamente relacionados con inmunidad innata y su papel en la defensa de los patógenos o que necesiten una formación complementaria en este tema. Postulantes con otro nivel de estudio serán considerados dependiendo de las plazas disponibles.
El curso tiene una duración de dos semanas y consta de dos partes. Una primera parte teórica de una semana de duración, en la que se introducirá al alumno en el conocimiento más actualizado y reciente sobre: los componentes celulares y moleculares de la inmunidad natural, la activación del sistema inmune innato en la defensa contra los diferentes patógenos y la evasión de la respuesta inmune innata por los patógenos; además se concluirá esta parte teórica con sesiones de discusión crítica de artículos de investigación directamente relacionados con los tópicos aprendidos. La parte teórica será seguida de una segunda parte práctica, de una semana de duración, en la que el alumno escogerá entre uno de los tres módulos prácticos ofertados en el programa dependiendo de su campo de estudio.
Al finalizar cada una de las partes del curso (teórica y práctica), y tras la realización de un examen, se entregará constancia con valor curricular que podrá ser incluida como parte de la formación doctoral

1st PASTEUR-ASIA IMMUNOLOGY COURSES

The Dean, on the behalf of the Board of the Medical Faculty has formally approved that the Pasteur-Asia Immunology be included in the coursework curriculum for Research Postgraduate studies effective from the academic year 2008/09.

The 1st Pasteur-Asia Immunology Course will focus on innate immunity and its signaling mechanisms, aiming to provide an in-depth coverage of this area..

The course will begin by providing a comprehensive overview of modern immunology, followed by bibliographical coverage of the innate immunity response in viral infection, such as by HIV, SARS, Influenza, Avian Influenza, as well as in parasitic and bacterial infections. Expert speakers will deliver topical seminars on specialized areas including:
• Introduction to the repertoire of effector cells, such as mast cells, natural killer cells, dendritic cells and macrophages;
• Talks on the pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and the repertoire of recognition molecules or receptors, such as pattern recognition molecules (PRMs) or pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD), NOD-like receptor (NLR);
• Overview of Toll like receptor (TLR) activation and signaling pathways, microRNA and cytokine induction, as well as of transcriptional regulation of inflammatory cells;
• The use of natural products to help the immune system to fight infection will also be touched on to conclude the course.
• In addition, hand-on practical sessions will be incorporated into the course to illustrate some most current techniques in immunological research.
