Doctoral Programme Calmette and Yersin

The Institut Pasteur International Division funds one to two researchers each year to promote and facilitate the realization of their PhD in an institute within the Institut Pasteur International Network (RIIP) except metropolitan France. Areas may include all themes developed in the laboratories of the RIIP.

Fixed-term local contract with social charges covers living expenses and insurance (net amount of €1,400 per month) for a duration of 3 years and a return air ticket per year between the home country and PhD traineeship location.

Eligibility criteria

This doctoral programme aims to promote mobility with the arrival in a new environment. The PhD traineeship will be conducted in an institution where the candidate does not yet work, outside the home country and outside the country in which the studies were conducted.
The applicant must have a Master 2 (or equivalent degree) or a doctorate in medicine, sciences (veterinary or other), and/or pharmacy. Candidates who have already started their PhD can not apply.
Open to candidates from all nationalities.

A Selection committee will decide on the allocation of this doctoral fellowship according to the relevance of the project, the goals of the training and on the file of the candidates.

The first step is to find a host laboratory in the Institut Pasteur International Network.
IMPORTANT: before submitting his application, the candidate must imperatively define, with the host laboratory, scientific project and starting date of the training.

The application to be completed online includes:

  • Curriculum vitae (1 page)
  • Photocopy of passport
  • Letter of motivation (1/ 2 page maximum)
  • The description of the thesis project (2 pages maximum) including context, problematics, objectives and working program (activities, waiting results and schedule)
  • Elements on the institute, the team and the supervisor (2 pages maximum) knowing that pre-required asked are the following ones:
    - the supervisor : publications, an experience on the subject (or the methods) proposed for the thesis and, if possible, an HDR; the commitment that he will be in post for all the thesis duration;
    - the team : a "sufficient" size (a single researcher cannot constitute a team);
    - the institute: conditions of employment (scientific materials and environment) suited
  • Letter from the director of the host laboratory to provide assistance to the applicant as needed and specifying the name, qualifications and position of the researcher who will be supervising the applicant (to be completed online)
  • Supporting letter from the applicant’s Supervisor (to be completed online)
  • Supporting letter from the responsible for the doctoral School on which will depend the candidate (to be completed online)
Names, functions and messages from these referents will be required to fill it online letters of recommendation.
