Institut Pasteur - Cenci Bolognetti Foundation

The Istituto Pasteur-Fondazione Cenci Bolognetti is a non-profit foundation that was established thanks to a generous gift from Princess Beatrice Fiorenza Cenci Bolognetti.

The Foundation has belonged to the Institut Pasteur International Network since 1970 and is proud to have a long tradition of excellence in biological research and in particular in the field of biotechnology.

Since the 1980s, scientific research activities are supported by vast training programs and numerous initiatives aiming to promote science in society.

Italie

Research:

- Molecular biology of microorganisms and viruses: analysis of molecular bases, pathogenesis, and host-pathogen interactions
- Pathogenic mechanisms of diseases associated with microorganisms : analysis of molecular and cellular bases and the response to infectious agents

- Biology of malaria and other vector-transmitted diseases, analysis of the vector, the parasite and the genetic basis of the response to the human host in epidemiology

Teaching & training:

Aside from research, the Foundation finances scientific and medical training for young researchers by providing scholarships and participates in the fight against the “brain drain”.
The Istituto Pasteur also wished to create another opportunity for young researchers and therefore established the Teresa Ariaudo scholarship. This scholarship finances researchers (for up to one year) who have just finished a doctorate and who wish to start their career in the biological sciences.

Science and society:

The Istituto Pasteur plays a fundamental role in the area of scientific promotion: it has contributed to enhancing knowledge of science in schools, has organised seminars and conferences, as well as laboratory visits, giving the next generation a chance to discover the everyday activities linked to scientific research and to see to what extent science is responsible for our well being.
