On October 10th, 2012, Institut Pasteur and CIRAD (Centre for International Cooperation in Agronomic Research for Development) signed a framework agreement to strengthen their international scientific cooperation.
Feeding a shared interest in the health issues in many developing countries, Institut Pasteur and CIRAD decided to strengthen their international collaborations on infectious diseases and anthropozoonoses while particularly in terms of emerging pathogens and of the health and environment link.
The two agencies already cooperate effectively on concerted joins in Cambodia, in Madagascar and in Guadeloupe. So they want to develop this type of partnership for the development of an interdisciplinary and cross research in several areas of health in the South (Africa, Mediterranean rim, South-east Asia, Caribbean and Indian Ocean). For this purpose, the emergence of a scientific community will be encouraged through local collaborations, trainings and the development of common research platforms.
